Frequently Asked Questions when Ordering Comics

Q: How do I order comics from Filbar’s?
Visit the Filbar’s Reservation System (FRS) at www.filbars.com.ph and check out the Comics ‘Advance Order’ and ‘New Arrivals’ sections of the site to place an order. You will need an account to log in and place your orders.

If you don't have an account, contact us on Facebook for assistance. Our friendly representatives will guide you through our registration process.

Q: What is an Advance Order?
The Advance Order section of the site is updated every weekend with the latest comic book titles nearing Final Order Cutoff (FOC). The FOC is the deadline for stores to place pre-orders before publishers start printing comics.

Every Sunday, we post an FOC reminder on Facebook, showcasing cover images of exciting titles you can pre-order. These highlights could include special covers, first appearances, and significant issues.

Q: When is the FOC Deadline?
Final Order Cutoff usually happens on Monday mornings (Philippine time), which is 3-4 weeks before the international release date. For highly anticipated titles, we might post them on the website earlier than usual to give more time for people to reserve.

The publisher can sometimes change the release date of a comic (and even the cover artwork!), so always stay informed.

Q: What do I do if I miss the FOC or don’t see a specific title for FOC?
If you missed ordering a book by the FOC date, contact us on Facebook. We'll try our best to assist you. Keep in mind that availability might be limited if the print runs are already reserved with the distributor.

If a specific comic isn't listed for FOC, let us know. We go through thousands of titles every month and may miss a few. You can even request us to order a specific title for you.

Q: What are New Arrivals?
The 'New Arrivals' section features comics that are about to be internationally released the following week. We update this section weekly, usually on Thursdays.

Make sure to browse this section carefully, as we may include additional titles not initially offered during the FOC period.

Q: What does it mean to be ‘Waitlisted’ when ordering New Arrivals?
A: The available stock in the New Arrival section is limited since these comics have already been allocated to us by the distributor. If a title is fully reserved, you can still click ‘Reserve Now’ and you will be 'Waitlisted.' Should copies become available due to customer cancellations, you will be in our queue for a copy. We serve waitlisted customers on a first-come, first-served basis. Please keep in mind that a 'waitlisted' status does not necessarily ensure a copy of the title.

Q: When do I get my comics?
While comics are released in the US on Wednesdays, international shipping may delay shipments to the Philippines. We'll notify you via text message when your order is ready for pickup at the store.

Collect your comics within 7 days. If you can't drop by, let us know in advance. After the
7-day period, your order may be cancelled and be offered to walk-in customers.

Q: What if my comic doesn’t arrive?
Occasionally, distributors can make mistakes, resulting in fewer copies being shipped to our stores. Sometimes, they can even accidentally miss an order entirely. We'll make every effort to rectify any missing orders. However, there are instances when the distributor may be unable to replace missing copies even after we place a re-order, since most comics have a limited print run.

Q: Is there a way to automatically pre-order a comic series every month?
If you regularly pick up your orders with us, you may ask the in-store manager to help you create a Pull List. A ‘Pull List’ allows the FRS to automatically pre-order comic titles for you every time there is a new issue. Please note that it can only reserve an issue’s regular cover (Cover A) and cannot reserve any variants.

The Pull List is a special perk we reserve for loyal customers who consistently pick up their weekly reservations at our stores.

Q: What are incentive variants?
An incentive variant is a specific type of variant cover that stores can order if they’re able to order a large number of an issue’s regular covers. For instance, a copy of a 1:100 variant can only be ordered by a store for every 100 pieces of a regular issue ordered.

When available to Filbar’s, we list these issues on FRS New Arrivals and offer them on a first-come, first-serve basis. Due to the limited quantity of these issues, we are unable to offer beyond what is allocated to us by the publisher.

Q: What are facsimile editions?
A facsimile edition is a reprint of a classic or iconic comic book. These are issues that have been out of print for many years and may feature first appearances or milestones in comic book history. What makes these issues unique from a typical reproduction is they are replicas that recapture the look and feel of rare books. They reprint not just the cover and the story pages, but also supplemental material such as letter pages, editorial columns, and the original advertisements.

Q: Why are some comic titles restricted?
Some publishers may only have the license to distribute certain comic titles within the US. When this happens, they are unable to ship these books to other countries. There are even rare instances when a publisher may lose the license to distribute a comic title in the middle of a series. Some examples of restricted comic titles include Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Star Wars books published by Dark Horse. If a particular comic is restricted, we may not be able to offer these items at our store.

Q: How do I purchase Back Issues?
If you're searching for a recent back issue, message us on Facebook or ask the in-store manager for assistance. We might be able to find it for you either at the store or at another branch. Due to space constraints, not all our branches have extensive back issue bins and current titles on display.

Reserving through the Filbar’s Reservation System guarantees your monthly comic book pickups.
